Hi everyone,
I get asked all the time, what do I think of MicroStrategy, now, Strategy?
And if I think it’s a good investment?
It’s a great question that I want to explore today. The answer is yes, and I recently added Strategy (MSTR) to my portfolio and also its latest competitor, Twenty One.
Today’s Core Points:
- MSTR stock
- How it compliments and compares to holding spot BTC
- The other products Strategy now offers investors
- New competition: $CEP & Twenty One
Let’s dive in!
Michael Saylor. There is no bigger Bitcoin bull with his visibility and reputation.
He jump started Corporate awareness that holding Dollars in a banking account in the era of debasement was no better than holding a melting ice-cube. Five years ago he came to the conclusion that Bitcoin was the only way to avoid a slow death for his tech company and its cash reserves, he then began an aggressive buying program to now make Micro(Strategy) one of the largest holders of Bitcoin in the world.
In his view, Bitcoin is the new base layer of the global economy and everything will be valued in the asset over time as fiat currencies race to the bottom of the debasement curve. Those who adopt the best money in the world early will benefit the most and I suspect, Strategy, will eventually become a Bitcoin bank.
Since re-branding from a purely software based business to a Bitcoin one, MSTR is now one of the most popular Stocks in the world and they have acquired 553,555 BTC, worth about $52 billion!
The nuts and bolts…
At first, Strategy bought Bitcoin with cash and low interest loans but then Saylor put it into overdrive, issuing their own debt.
James Lavish summarised how Saylor does this in his latest newsletter 👇
Ok cool, but is it a better investment than just owning physical Bitcoin?
The Case for Buying Strategy (MSTR)...
Easy Way to Bet on Bitcoin: Instead of buying Bitcoin directly (which can be tricky with wallets and exchanges), you can buy MSTR stock on the regular stock market. It’s like owning a piece of Bitcoin without the hassle. It is a popular option for diversification purposes in a regular portfolio or in SMSF.
Bigger Wins (and Losses): It’s a leveraged play on Bitcoin. What makes MSTR a fascinating prospect for Bitcoin-focussed investors is that it has shown returns that are 2-3x greater than Bitcoin. On the flipside though, if Bitcoin drops, MSTR can fall harder too.
